Stage setup. By hand: 8 hours. KARIANA: 30 minutes.
We had a VP shoot scheduled for 09:00. The scene arrived from the external vendor at 22:00 the night before. 3,200 assets. Half with default UE naming. Textures compressed for mobile. No World Outliner hierarchy. No documentation.
Two scenarios. The one we'd lived before KARIANA, and the one we ran that night.
Scenario A: by hand
Senior TD opens the scene. Starts renaming assets manually. 3,200 assets. At 200 renames per hour — 16 hours. More realistic: 400/hour with copy-paste patterns. Still 8 hours.
Meanwhile someone else is rebuilding the Outliner hierarchy from scratch. Another person is fixing texture compression settings one by one.
By 06:00 you have a workable scene. Three people. Eight hours. No sleep. Shoot starts in 3 hours.
The real cost
3 people × 8 hours = 24 person-hours. At a blended rate of $75/hour: $1,800 in labor. For one scene. Before the shoot even started.
Scenario B: with KARIANA
22:15. Scene opens. Switch to VALIDATE mode. Let her scan.
4 minutes. Report: 847 naming violations, 312 wrong texture compression settings, World Outliner unorganized, 23 assets with missing LODs.
Switch to CREATE. Three commands:
"Fix all naming violations from the VALIDATE report."
"Fix texture compression for all flagged assets — use BC7 for diffuse, BC5 for normal."
"Reorganize World Outliner: /Environment, /Lighting, /Geometry, /Cameras."
Each command: Pre-Flight Check. Review the plan. Approve. KARIANA executes.
22:45. Scene is clean. Naming correct. Hierarchy organized. Compression fixed. One person. 30 minutes. Shoot prep can start.
